Hallowinner ;)

O Mayonaise, Halloween is only two days away! It is around this time of year that I thank God for my rather eccentric personal style because it never fails to provide me with fun Halloween ideas without having to spend a cent! I find myself silently resenting the enormous amounts of money people spend on something they'll wear no more than one time. C'mon people, let's dive into our moms/dads/boyfriends/stranger's closets and get the creativity crackin'! That money you're spending on paper thin angel wings and lint infested kitten ears could be spent on real clothes, pieces that could transform you into more of a sex kitten than a Party City costume ever could!

This Halloween I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a Japanese Anime School girl! Haha, I swear I switch up that phrase every time I say it in order to make it easier to envision for those that aren't obsessed with Japan, Tokyo street style, and the like (shame on you). Being that I have more than a couple tulle items, a wide assortment of bright colored everything, various knee socks and legwarmers, and lots of doll esque hair accessories- a Japanese school girl seemed only PERFECT! However, a minuscle part of me is thinking of going as a doll; being that I don't wear makeup, drowning my face in product overload for one night might prove to be fun!

Sooo right here is Kirtsen Dunst, the orginally presumed to be simple, sweet, and unassuming actress. Wow, I gotta give it up to her, this totally threw me for a loop! In her defense, she was in Tokyo at the time of this get-up so it's understandable that her tourism got the best of her!

Last Halloween I attempted to be Chibi from Sailor Moon, results were slightly disasterous due to five minute planning. Not to mention, about,um, three people knew who I was.

Whoa Betsey!

Sooo Forever 21 has recently taken their amazing array of awesome and affordable pieces and looked to designers like Philip Lim, the legendary Chanel, and my personal fave, Betsey Johnson for inspiration! Among many fun and fab Betsey reminiscent pieces- this bright, bold, rose pattern on a rich palette of black, touched my soul in a way the other pieces just couldn't compete with. I loved the way the big, bold flowers (that reminded of Beauty of the Beast) added such a pretty, doll like feel; and of course I was obsessed with the sewn in tulle detail!

This summer I found myself consistently drawn to this dress, despite the occasion. From low key lunch dates to decadent dinners, this gem of a garment took me from day to night with ease. It seemed to channel within me, an equal contrast of femininity and power. For dinner I decided to playfully pair it with my black, over sized Hello Kitty bow, which totally amped the whole Betsey Johnson vibe!

Fuuur Sure

The fur is flying and I'm loving every moment of it! Fashion has gone soft and the trend is so versatile, it seems to have something for everyone! Whether you're interested in the boho, hippie vibe or the more sophisticated, glamorous look; this trend has a fur for you. I must tell you that Forever 21 currently has the best selection (for the best prices) of faux fur pieces, including the Kate Hudson a la Almost Famous esque furry vest.

My collection of fur frenzied pieces is pretty small, consisting of only a cheetah/leopard mini cape and a white, faux fur coat that could really benefit from a good dry clean. I'm not too sure on how I'm going to style the cape though, suggestions?

I am so happy Opening Ceremony decided to hype Where the Wild Things Are because I love its whimsical, dream like, eccentricities. Not to mention, I really want that furry jumpsuit, how fun and relaxing would that be once the weather begins to froth, to feel like a human teddy bear! In addition, not remembering the summary of Where the Wild Things Are book, I've been very curious as to how successful the movie is, have you checked it out yet?

edit: I'm a vegetarian and animal lover and only rock my furs faux style, it's the only way!

Cropped Concepts

I love when a certain look makes you feel different; when slipping on a specific pair of jeans or that one top instantly changes or enhances your mood, bringing out a side of you that isn't consistently apparent on an everyday basis. I suppose one could refer to this as "dressing for your mood" but I'm speaking on a more intense level, I'd almost associate it with playing "dress up" or wearing a costume.

Cropped tops have been everywhere for at least the past five months or so, and while the trend gradually makes its way into remission due to decreasing temperatures, I'll think fondly on the piece that easily allows one to be sexy while avoiding overexposure; and stops conveniently right above the hips, providing just enough coverage for those who aren't exactly equipped with abs of steel.

Denim boyfriend shorts are another summer staple I may truly miss as we transition into fall. Who doesn't love a jean that provides one with comfortability so great you almost feel as if you're wearing nothing? Isn't comfort and easy wearability what jeans are all about anyway? I am left to wonder, however, how many people actually felt the need to spend a large sum of money to create a look that can be easily emulated by borrowing the jeans of a brother or actual boyfriend. My boyfriend shorts were actually originally flare legged. However, they became much roomier over time, leaving behind unattractive sag. Conveniently though, it wound up being the perfect opportunity for a much needed D.I.Y.

Deserted

Where else but the desert are you forced to wear layer upon layer to keep out the cold one day, only to be faced with a sweltering heat wave on the following day; making you want to roll up the knitted scarf you just wore and convert it to a tubetop. Ahh, that's the Antelope Valley for you, no? ...love how they refer to it as the valley, hmph, maybe Death Valley...

Announcment: Overalls are sooo making a comeback; in my mind anyway! Remember the easy days of youth when we could simply hop into a pair of denim or corduroy overalls and instantly be the coolest, not to mention most comfy, kid in the sandbox? Sigh, the good ol' days.

I suppose jumpsuits/rompers are zee new overall; and while I love a one piece just as much (maybe even more) than the next girl, it's sooo much more exciting to kick it ol' school for a spell.
