Creator

Me, I'm the creator, thrill is to make it up
The rules I break, got me a place up on the radar
Me, I'm a taker, know what the stakes are
Can't roll it back, it's understood, got to play our cards

I accidently bought this sweater dress about three sizes too big (xtra large). Upon realizing this, I panicked, not knowing when I would be returning to Ontario Mills Outlet to exchange it. However, being the optimist that I am, I slipped the quilted cotton wonder over my head, mentally crossing my fingers. Much to my surprise and delight-it fit oh sooo comfortably and fell just long enough to evade the requirement of opaque tights or leggings. I love the thick knit and the even thicker, over sized neck! It came with a waist belt but I decided to remove it to create an extremely oversized turtleneck sweater look rather than one of a sweater dress (sooo overdone). Although I've never understood the logic behind heavy knit, cold weather ready garments (esp. turtleneck ones) being created in short sleeve form- for this- it just worked...Photobucket

P.S-Considering I bought this sweater three sizes too big...I can't help but wonder how it was meant to fit...

L is for LOVE

Luella is one of my absolute favorite designers and I am soooo painstakingly in L-O-V-E with Luella's Spring collection. It reminded me of why I fell in love with Luella in the first place. I love how Luella takes simple shapes and puts an interesting, unexpected, often eccentric twist on them. Always posh but never stuffy. From the colors to the sillohuettes, to the accents and detail--oh my, it's just too amazing!!! The line is very reminiscent of vintage UK au pair in all the right ways. The playful, volumnious sillohuettes, the soft yet vibrant color schemes and the genius shapes and detail make for such fun and romance, just in time for V Day... ::sigh::
all pc: teen vogue
(a) I would die to wear this on Valentine's day, it's the perfect dress for the ocassion. The soft pinks combined with the ruched fabric are so romantic and elegant; and the one sleeve is absolute genius! I love, love love it. Everything is just so perfect! I love the twisted detail of the chest area and the tiered design of the dress's hem.
(b)Oh so romantic and soft, it makes me want to skip through a garden and gaze longingly into a fountain. The loose fit of the ruffle encrusted top work surprisingly well with this adorable, volumnious skirt. I love the ruffles in both and am thinking that's what allows the pieces to vibe so well together; not to mention the soft glow the fusion of lilac and pretty pink give the already beautiful look. This skirt is hands down amazing...it would be so fun to wear...pretty, pretty princess...

(c)I love that I already have a dress similar to this one because this look is so inspiring. Part of what makes Luella so well, Luella is the simplicity pallet their pieces play on and how they always swoop in with eye catching detail. I adore these layered upon layered pearls, they add just the right amount of punch to complete Luella's signature intrigue. And the veil, oh the amazing beyond words veil, just stop...

(d)I love this color scheme! I would have never thought of paring purple and orange together for this season but it works so well. I felt faint at the sight of this gorgeous dress, the ruffles are ridiculously fabulous, and the cinched bow at the waist completes the perfection, and despite the fact that the model is thin, the cut of this piece looks to be rather slimming, yes??? The coat adds such sophistication to the look...I love how it's hemline meets perfectly with that of the dress. However, what I am most excited about are the hand gloves, they're so dainty and romantic..my mind can't help but think of the legendary Miss Audrey Hepburn. How adorably chic! They're perfect with this look, they complete it so well...I must have hand gloves immediately!
(e)I have never been a big fan of wearing one color looks, it has always seemed so elementary/amatuer to me. However, of course, Luella makes it work in the most amazing of ways. Granted this may be a little too dramatic for some to wear to the office but I would love to do it. I love the business woman sophistication of the structered jacket; yet the zippers and endless ruffles give the look so much personality and pop. How weird yet perfect is this skirt, honestly, who would have thought that this would work so wondorously other than Luella???

(f)The floral print is so perfect for this little top, esp. combined with the small bows on either side of the shoulders, pure genius! It's so girly yet posh. The design on the skirt is beautiful and has just enough detail to make it Luella, without stealing the spotlight from the top. Needless to say, the chic handbag and punchy, vibrant hand gloves make this look too perfect beyond expression. In the words of Miss Rachel Zoe-I die...

All the pretty flowers

Teen Vogue never fails to inspire me, even though I've sadly left my teens behind (boy, those were the years ;)) I can't get enough of the mag- it' so real, hip, and I love their street style features. Upon looking through some of my old issues I remembered being inspired by Amanda Seyfried's shoot in their August issue, the florals mixed in with a little punk edge was so genius and romantic it made me want to frolick through a field with a rock n roller...

I'm kind of crushing on lace and florals right now, maybe it's because fashion week's got meeh excited for spring or maybe it's because V-Day is just aroiund the corner; either way, soft clothes, especially ones adorned with feminine texture give me the warm and fuzzies. I bought this dress quite some time ago and I've always loved the light, airy feel of it. In addition, I've been feeling the whole socks with boots look and I've been meaning to try it for a long time, finally did...

I LOVE LA

Confession: I haven't lived in LA in 11 years, however, although I was forced to move to this wretched valley, my heart and soul are and always will be Los Angeles residents. Recently I've been having a daily debate on whether or not I should just scrounge up some loose change, pack my bags, cross my fingers, hop on the train and just hope for the best. I use any excuse possible to visit as much as I possibly can which is rather difficult at the moment due to school/work but trust meeh, I make it work. I adore the high velocity, the constant action, and the fact that just being almost anywhere, whether it's Downtown, Koreatown, Wilshire and Normandie (my old street) or whereever, you'll never run out of things to do or see. In addition: it is, in my experience, the absolute best place to shop (Fashion District anyone???) I cannot wait to move back to LA...if anyone needs a roommate-HOLLA...it's getting to the point where I'm two steps away from asking one of the notorious Broadway bums if they'll share their street corner with me...oh yes, it is that serious. It's not that I just have some random, trendy obsession with the amazing, awesome, and forever inspiring city, it's the only place I feel at home. The young women in LA care about fashion, deeply...some, even as much as I do, and it's comforting, intriguing, and exciting being in a place where there are people wise enough to appreciate your deep adoration/devotion for something that many consider nothing more than just a superficial hobbby...LA I LOVE YOU (and yeeees...I will see you tomorrow ;)) I took these photos a couple of months ago while I roamed the wonderous city; another great thing about LA-almost every area doubles as great photo scenery.

To those previously unaware, I have an unhealthy obsession w/ Subway (or does the fact that it's Subway make it a healthy obsession???) I'm there 3x a week, at least. Because I'm a vegetarian, it's extremely frustrating trying to get good food on the go. However, Subway solves that problem for meeh (toasted veggie delite on wheat bread w/ fetta cheese, please) and at 4.97 a footlong (cut into 4's, thank you) w/ a complimentary diet coke (i'm on a first name basis with the employees)- You can't go wrong...and while i'm already sounding like a public service announcement, I might as well add- Subway, Eat Fresh (and cruelty free)

It was a fiiiine day

A few things I should probably tell you

  • I LOOOOVE FASHION, like mucho x a grip (hmm...tell meeh something I don't know Dannie) But my point is- although fashion is as natural to my life as Aquafresh Expressions in the morning, I don't necessarily keep up with the big names designer's latest collections, the hottest must have pieces, or the latest trends. Don't get it twisted though, I study fashion mags, blogs, sites etc. like plaids (squares) study caculus :p Like literally study, (pen in hand, journal, and sometimes scissors taking notes, writing out inspiration, outfit ideas etc; am I the only one who does this???) and of course I'm familiar with designers and such (esp. my faves: Betsey Johnson, Erin Fetherston, Luella, and Chanel, more on that in the future ;)). But honestly, I study fashion as a whole, I don't wheedle through it piece by piece. Sadly, I didn't even pay much attention to fashion week until I checked out people's blogs weeks later. Does that make meeh less worthy than others who know all the latest Lanvin, Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang etc. collections piece by piece via memory??? I think not. What I mean to say is I love high fashion just as much as the next but it just basically serves as inspiration for now...until my big break at least ;) Honestly, I don't think the fact that I don't deeply study designers is a negative...I feel it may very well be one of the reasons my personal style has stayed sooo eccentric and well, personal throughout the years...

Okay...sorry for the ramblings-
sushi3

(Kinitted hobo cap- vintage, Biker jacket-Bitten by SJP, stretch tee, vintage jeans, Timberland boots)

Last Saturday was pretty bangin' as most days are when sushi is included!!! My best friend took meeh to Big Tuna-my favorite restaraunt in the world (for the moment, haven't tried many sushi places, but I have been hearing of this whole Nobu thing, what's that all about anyway???) I ate waaaaay too much as I always do at that place...but sadly- I must confess I didn't enjoy it the the way I have in the past (OH THE HORROR) b/c I'm a vegetarian, I have been for almost two years now (actually working on being a vegan) and I've given up everything and don't miss any of it a bit but there are two things that I just can't give up: queso (cheeese-pleeease) and obviously, sushi. But I told myself I wasn't going to have sushi anymore but my friend absolutely insisted and what kind of friend would I be if I denied him that pleasure??? (I did it for hiiiim :p) Some people say I'm not a vegetarian b/c I eat sushi...hmmm...well I don't eat: milk, pork, beef, chicken, turkey, eggs, or fish (w/ the exception of sushi obviously) sooo um...whatever that means...

Rainbow Roll...yum!!! Mi favorito

P.S-I got my LookBook account back, it's sooo strange b/c one day my e-mail and password just up and stopped working; I even went as far as trying to retrieve my password but my e-mail wouldn't work sooo I had to sign up again. I still don't know what happened...can you get kicked out of LookBook for being too fly??? Haha...

NEW YEAR/NEW LOOK

Ever since I first laid eyes upon the fashionably fearless, glowingly confident, and always inspirational-Rihanna's emo esque yet sophisticated and oh so sexy bob early last year, I had been itching to rock the chic cut myself. I love how the bangs fall in front of the face and add a mysterious and sexy air to the almost androgynous look...
Photobucket

The fierce and risque look match Rihanna's in yo face, self confident swag perfectly. Being that she has a rather round face, similar to the shape of my own, I knew I would definitely do it justice...
Photobucket
As many will come to notice, I change my hair a lot, a whooole lot and the whole long, blond thing was getting old and rather redundant; it being a new year and all I decided to start it off with a bang, or should I say adorable, perfectly fallen side bangs for that matter...to make a long story a little less long, let's just say- I LOVE MY NEW LOOK

Photobucket

I swear I was the most annoying, obnoxious little thing that had ever sat in front of a hairdresser as she created the look, I asked about fifty questions every fifteen minutes and surveyed my family every thirty minutes or so to see how they thought it was coming along; being that my friend doing my hair for me, smartly refused to give me a hand mirror to stare in, knowing that my antsy, anxious behavior would've been heightened by a thousand. What can I say? I had been vying this look for-ev-er and I wasn't gonna accept anything less than perfect; and thank the good Lord...perfect is what I got!!!

meet mildred

This is Mildred but she prefers to be called Milly. She loves to read old Harlequinn romance novels and imagine herself as the damsel in distresss being resuced from a handsome, muscle bound prince. Pink is her favorite color and she goes mad for plaid. Mildred loves to play checkers on the weekends with the elderly at the senior center in her town. Her favorite food is split pea soup, rye bread and vitamin D whole milk. When Mildred isn't working on calculus homework or tutoring elementary kids after school, you can usually find her on her EMachine desktop computer playing World of War Craft for hours on end. On their one year anniversary, Milly's boyfriend Edward bought her a dress he thought she would like. Milly loved the dress and decided to take a picture of herself in it for Edward but she was too shy to ask anyone to take her picture so she was stuck taking it herself in the school bathroom, where no one could see her. Much to her surprise, it was a lot of fun.Photobucket

12 DAYS 0F CHRISTMAS

Christmas was exactly twelve days ago today, meaning 2 things:

  • Today es Dia de los Reyes (3 King's Day-when the three wise men came to the baby Jesus bearing gifts. This holiday is also where we get the song 12 Days of Christmas from, and it's mainly celebrated in the Hispanic culture. Heh, heh...sorry for the history lesson. O my flippin' goshedness Dude- My mum and I were at Wal-Mart the other day (had to stock up on Lipton Diet green tea, slight-extreme addiction :p) and I saw this big box of Mexican sweet bread (yuum) and it said Rosca de Reyes on it so naturally I assumed Rosca de Reyes meant Three King's Day, yes? Uh...no. So today I see my friend (who is teaching me Spanish along with the help of Rosetta Stone and dramatic, enticing novuelas) and I greet her proudly with "Feliz Rosca de Reyes!" and she looks at me all crazy and laughs, she then tells me that rosca is the holiday's bread. Oh. I then proceeded to speak English for the rest of the day.
  • Being extremlely busy due to recent holiday mania I've had the hardest time in the world sitting still long enough to conduct a proper post...lo siento. So I've decided to post holiday photos as a belated gift--after all, you can never have too much Christmas- it is the best holiday of the year after all (well other than Nov. 2nd, mi cumpleanos ;))

HAPPY BELATED CHRISTMAS/FELIZ ROSCA DE REYES...heehee

I found this amazingly simple but chic lace, sport zip up at a random botique and I instantly fell in love with it! Never had I seen a jacket usually worn strictly for jogging purposes transformed into a lace embedded treasure such as this.

p.s-I cut my hair in two minutes with some sewing scissors b/c I didn't feel like drying it one night. Surprisingly, it recieved rave reviews...slightly reminds me of Christina Ricci in Speed Racer.
